Communication Skills

Hello Beautiful people,

Today's reading will be going to be interesting because we are going to talk about the skills which each and every person must have or should develop. It's a part of your Personality.

So Let's start today's blog...

Communication Skill

When we meet someone, his eyes glide all over us, he tries to understand our body language and attire and forms an impression about us. All these impressions are covered in secrecy. Neither person has spoken a word in this scenario but impressions have already been formed.

However, this is just the beginning. Whenever you meet people some amount of conversation will take place. You may ask something and he will reply. He will ask you questions and you will answer. Actually, your impression about someone gets completed only after you talk to them.

It is possible that you formed a very good impression of someone when you saw them but the minute they opened their mouth, the good impression came crashing down like a house of cards. It is not necessary that someone who looks and dresses smart also talks smartly.

The conclusion from the above idea is that the most important factor in determining the strength of our personality is our communication skill. It matters how impressively can we put our thoughts across and communicate our ideas. This is what is meant by communication skills.

Why is it so important? As I have mentioned earlier, every part of our body speaks, even our clothes. When the aspects of our personality which do not even speak can still reveal so much about us, just imagine how influential must be the part that actually speaks.

A sword is a weapon and a rod is a weapon too. Similarly, body language and dress is like a rod but talking is like a sword - sharp and strong. It can make you sink or float.

Communication skill is considered so important because many aspects of your personality can be evaluated on this basis.

Principles of communication

There are three stages in the process of communication. They are:

1. Source/Sender - the person who is communicating or one who encodes the message.

2. Medium - the medium being used to convey the message.

3. Receiver - the listener or one who decodes the message.

Let us talk about these in detail

Imagine you have gone to give an interview. You are the source of communication here. You have to send your message across to the jury members. Since both parties are sitting facing each other there is no medium such as letter, newspaper, SMS, or mass media necessary.

Since both parties are in front of each other it will be referred to as interpersonal communication. A perfect communication is one where the listener understands only what the sender wants to say. There should be no contamination in the message. If this is not happening it means the communication is strained. In theoretical terms, this disturbance is referred to as noise in the communication process.

Therefore, the ability to communicate depends on how well the sender of the message can convey it to the receiver. The receiver should understand what the communicator intends him to. The communication which is distanced from this goal is weak.

An impressive communication is one that contributes to the strength of our personality. It has two factors. The first factor is thoughts and the other is language. If thoughts are the body then language is the dress that covers it.

If you want to be a good communicator then you need to give time to perfect your language. Some people take things for granted. They believe that since I'm speaking I know the language. They are not entirely wrong. They definitely know the language, but not the kind that is influential.

So I will lay down some points that will help you develop a better command over language -

1. Read books on various subjects. It will increase your knowledge as well as your vocabulary. Read many other writers also.

2. You should always keep a dictionary. Use it when you do not understand a word. It may be that you can still understand the sentence without knowing the meaning of the word. So keep a dictionary with you.

3. Focus on the purity of language in both aspects - the spoken language and the written one. If you write incorrectly it may cost you a few marks in an exam. But when it comes to speaking and you speak incorrectly it will render your personality very weak.

4. To ensure the purity of language, do two things. Whenever you read, read it carefully. Observe the spelling and usage of the words. It will help your brain visualize those words. It will make your writing more clear.

Here, I had discussed some aspects of the communication. You can only master it when you bat in the field. Merely reading this will not help. If you are really serious about learning the art, then start practicing. Once you start practicing, things will turn around for the better.

So That's it for Today's Blog

Hope You Like IT.
